Final outcome of the lower part of my sleeve! I am SOO ridiculously in love with it. This portrait was done in Victoria, BC by the wonderful Gwendolyn at Painted Lotus Studios! It is of my late handsome childhood dog, Blackie. We shared many incredible memories, and he was the last living piece of my sister who passed away (he was her chosen puppy!)
Not only was he my best friend, but he was my protector, shoulder to cry on and always lent an ear I listen. He waited at the end of my driveway every day for me to come home from school, and would actually take my hand in his mouth and bring me to the door. He had so much emotion for an animal, I have never met another like him. When my sister passed, he would go to her site and lay in the grass as if he was waiting for her to come back.
We were in a motor vehicle accident around Christmas time 6 years ago, and rolled our SUV. This dog DRAGGED me out of the flipped vehicle to safety. I will be forever grateful and in debt to this pooch.
The banner says ‘Nothing gold can stay’ from my favorite poem by Robert Frost- because like the saying ‘all good things come to an end’ one day they do, and one day we will not have everything we loved like we once did. No one can tell me diamonds are a girls best friend, they obviously never had a dog.
